LAST GAME: The Bowie Baysox defeated the B-Mets, 4-1 last night at NYSEG Stadium. The Baysox broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning with two unearned runs against Ryan Fraser. A throwing error by Danny Muno at shortstop led to the two runs. Bowie scored first in the fourth against Greg Peavey with an RBI double by Josh Horton. An RBI single from Allan Dykstra tied the game at 1, but Binghamton was held scoreless for the remainder of the game. Matt Bischoff earned the win on the mound after tossing two scoreless frames. Oliver Drake threw a scoreless ninth to notch his eighth save of the season.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Logan Verrett makes his 22nd start of the season for the B-Mets, and his second against Bowie. Verrett last took the mound on August 9 against the Erie Seawolves and gave up six runs in 4.2 innings. His last start in the rotation was skipped due to an innings cap that was placed on the righty. Verrett leads the team in wins, and is tied for second for the most wins in the league. In 131.0 innings, opponents are hitting .246 against Verrett in his first season at Double-A. In 12 home starts, he is 4-5 with a 3.84 ERA. Over his last eight starts, he is 2-4 with a 5.11 ERA. The Mets drafted him in the third round of the 2011 draft out of Baylor University.

BOWIE STARTER: RHP Tyler Wilson makes his 14th start of the season for Bowie and second against Binghamton. On June 14 Wilson earned the win after allowing three runs on two hits in 5.1 innings. In his last start he was tagged with the loss against Richmond after allowing two runs in five innings pitched. He started 2013 with the Frederick Keys (High-A), and went 1-1 with a 4.48 ERA in 11 starts before being promoted in mid-June. Baltimore drafted Wilson in the 10th round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Virginia.

TO WIN THE EASTERN DIVISION: The magic number to win the Eastern Division for the B-Mets is 1. A win by the B-Mets tonight or a Trenton Thunder loss would clinch it. Binghamton already has an automatic postseason berth clinched. Binghamton has not played in the postseason since 2004, and has not won the division since 2000.

RUBBER MATCH: Wednesday is the 18th rubber match of the season for the B-Mets. They are 11-6 in these games, and beat the Baysox in a rubber match on June 16 at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton’s series record is 24-9-6.

80 WINS: The 2013 Binghamton Mets are the fourth team in franchise history to win 80 games in one season. They also accomplished at least 80 victories in 1994, 1998, and in 2000. In each of those seasons the team won 82 games, which is the most in franchise history.

LOW HIT NUMBERS: The B-Mets were limited to six hits in last night’s loss. They have not out-hit an opponent in any of their last five games, and have 13 runs scored during that time. This season Binghamton has a .257 team batting average, ranking them third in the league.

AUGUST PITCHING NUMBERS: Despite a .230 team batting average in August, Binghamton is 13-6 during this month. The pitching staff has led the way, posting a league-best 2.36 ERA in the month.

BLOWOUT???: Last night was the first time Binghamton has lost by more than two runs since July 26 vs. TRN (L, 4-1). Binghamton has not lost by more than three runs since July 16 vs. RIC (L, 9-3).

NOT DONE WITH BOWIE: After Wednesday, Binghamton still has one more series against the Baysox. After four games in Akron, the B-Mets will travel to Prince George’s Stadium for a four-game series.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets hit the road to start their final road trip of the regular season. It begins in Akron, with first pitch on Thursday coming at 7:05 PM. Binghamton will send LHP Mark Cohoon to the mound against Akron’s RHP Toru Murata.
