Mets Fall to Clearwater 5-2


 


PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — Hoby Milner allowed one run in seven innings as the Clearwater Threshers defeated the St. Lucie Mets 5-2 on Sunday at Tradition Field.

Kyle Johnson had two hits for the Mets and scored on a double play groundball in the first inning with Lucas Duda at the plate. Duda finished 0-for-4 while serving as the designated hitter in his seventh game on a major league rehab assignment with St. Lucie.

Cory Vaughn had two hits and Kevin Plawecki had an RBI single in the ninth.

Ken Giles struck out pinch-hitter Jayce Boyd looking with runners at the corners to end the game.

Rainy Lara allowed four runs and five hits in seven innings while walking one and striking out two.

Cody Satterwhite allowed one run and three hits with one walk and three strikeouts over two innings of work.

The Mets will host Clearwater on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Tradition Field. Domingo Tapia is the scheduled starter for the Mets.
