draft - tyler kolek 2

6-14-13 - Todd Gold‏@TGold_PG - 2014 RHP Tyler Kolek (Shepherd, TX) sat 92-95 with severe downhill leverage and + extension, flashed + SL in 1st IP of PGNational

6-14-13 - Frankie Piliere‏@FPilierePG - Tyler Kolek just pounded the zone at 95-96, topped 97 in his second inning. Easy velo

7-2-13  -  7. Tyler Kolek- RHP, Shepherd (TX) HS -  6’5, 230 RHP who touched 97 at TOS and National Showcase. Rumored triple digits http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/

7-5-13 - Tyler Kolek, RHP, Shepherd HS (TX) - The 6’-6”, 240-pound right-hander established himself as an early front runner when he hit 100 mph on some scouts radar guns at Area Code tryouts in June. He then sat in the mid-90s at the Perfect Game Nationals with good feel for a slider that has plus potential. His size suggests even more velocity could be coming, and he has great body control considering his frame. He has been timed at 4.8 in the 40, showing great athleticism. Texas is known for producing big, hard-throwing right-handers, and Kolek definitely fits the mold. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/prep-arms-chicago-cubs/34856#Vp7zJ4JvRevfV1fR.99

7-24-13  -  1. Tyler Kolek, rhp, Shepherd (Texas) HS/Houston Banditos - Kolek broke his non-throwing arm early in his junior season. He resumed throwing in early May and within a month his 91-94 mph velocity jumped to 97, and he touched 99 mph at an Area Code Games tryout. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Kolek has strength throughout his extra-large frame, long levers and athleticism, garnering Division I scholarship offers as a defensive end. A Texas Christian signee, he delivers his fastball from a three-quarters arm slot, giving it heavy boring action and good downhill plane. Both his low-80s slider and mid-70s curveball show plus or better potential, with the curveball showing more promise. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
