8/15/13
Draft 14 – Jake Godfrey, Alex Destino, Max Pentecost, Kyle Wright, Cobi Johnson
8-6-13 - Top pitchers - East Coast Professional Showcase, Syracuse, NY - 10. Jake Godfrey, RHP, Providence Catholic HS (Ill.): Godfrey threw his fastball 91-93 mph and coupled it with a very nasty curveball. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130806&content_id=56048786&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
7-24-13 - Alex Destino, lhp, North Buncombe, Weaverville, N.C./South Charlotte Panthers - At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Destino has a large frame and sturdy build. The South Carolina commit has a smooth, repeatable delivery and easy arm action. His three-quarter arm slot creates deception and downhill plane. He sits 88-91 mph with his fastball and touches 92. Destino shows feel for a 76-78 mph breaking ball with three-quarter tilt and depth. He mixes an 80-82 mph changeup with fade. Destino repeats his delivery well and consistently throws strikes. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
8-7-13 - Cape Cod Times CCBL @CapeLeagueCCT - Over in Bourne, catcher Max Pentecost (Kennesaw State) named CCBL Pat Sorrenti MVP.
8-4-13 - Kyle Wright Primary Position: RHP Secondary Position(s): 3B Height/Weight: 6’3/190 Bats/Throws: R/R Home Town: Huntsville, AL School: Buckhorn Class of: 2014 - Committed To: Vanderbilt - Scouting Notes: - 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Kyle is a sloped shoulder, long limb, and loose arm pitcher. Good frame that is lanky and shows a great deal of projection from the ¾ to low ¾ slot. He gets a great deal of lateral movement with the fastball and shows some two way natural tail that was 87-89 (90) mph. He flashes a sweeping curve that gives off a bit slurvy path with the slot, tough for RHH to attack that was 74-77 mph. He has a show me change that needs to some work to project. Nice foundation, limited exposure arm that is high projectable, good under radar follow into the spring. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/04/2014-mlb-draft-profile-kyle-wright/
7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 12. Cobi Johnson, RHP, Mitchell HS (FL) - 6'4/185, Draft Day Age: 18.58, Florida State commit - Quick Take: Johnson has been a little tough for scouts to see so far as he's only pitched a few innings this summer to save his arm, wise counsel from his father: Blue Jays pitching coordinator Dane Johnson. I've been told Cobi has been sitting 90-93 and hitting 95 mph with a curveball that flashes plus potential from a smooth delivery and a super projectable 6'4 frame. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html
