Draft 14 – Mac Marshall, Michael Cederoth, Justin Blatner, Luke Bonfield, Marcus Wilson
8-13-13 - The Perfect Game All-American Classic in San Diego - Mac Marshall (Parkview High School, Ga.) was 91-93, but the breaking-ball left a ton to be desired (scouts tell me it’s been inconsistent all year). http://mlbdraftinsider.com/2013/08/thoughts-on-perfect-game-all-american-classic/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 10. Michael Cederoth, RHP, San Diego State- He is 6′-6“, 210 pounds and can touch 100 mph with his fastball. Shall I go on? He also adds a mid-80s slider, as well as a mid-80s change-up that is more of an out pitch. His command can be shaky at times as he is still learning how to be a pitcher instead of just running his overpowering fastball. Over 15 starts this year, he had a 4.25 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 109 K/48 BB over 95.1 innings. If he works on his command the way Jonathan Gray did last year, as well as refine his off-speed stuff, he should be one of the first college pitchers off the board. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-10-13 - New Balance Area Code games - For the Royals, right-hander Justin Blatner was interesting. He didn’t have big time velo at 83-85 MPH but was a side armer with good movement on his fastball. He’s tall and lean showing good athleticism. He’s committed to Gonzaga. http://prospectinsider.com/view/2013-area-codes:-day-4-notes/
2013 East Coast Pro Showcase Top 50 Prospects - 14. Luke Bonfield – OF, Immaculata (NJ) HS - One of the best pure hitters in the class. Went 6-6 at National Showcase and continued to hit at ECP. Might be the best hitter in the country this summer. http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-top-50-ecp-prospects/
7-24-13 - Marcus Wilson, of, Junipero Serra, Los Angeles/SGV Arsenal - Wilson offers projection as he fills his lean, wiry 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame. He has broad shoulders, a tapered waist and leans legs. Wilson, who is uncommitted, has athleticism, fluid actions and plus speed capable of 60-yard-dash times in the 6.5 range and home-to-first times around 4.1. The member of SGV Arsenal has arm strength and defensive prowess in center field. A righthanded hitter, Wilson has good bat speed and has shown the present ability to hit in games. Wilson is young for the class and will not be 18 until two months after the draft. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
