Mack Ade - Something Positive

avatar - positive

I’ve got to write something positive.

I’m so sick and tired of losing, errors, suspensions, walk-offs, injuries, and everything else that seems to surround this team these past few years.

There’s going to be some changes made, all to the better.

Rotation wise, Zack Wheeler will first shut down and then step up. Jenrry Mejia will come back in the spring strong, as well as Dillon Gee and Jonathan Niese. The Mets will screw the Super Two and add Rafael Montero to the rotation (Noah Syndergaard will be added and replace somebody around June).

Pen wise, my guess is either Montero or Mejia will join Bobby Parnell and Jeurys Familia in a new, younger pen built around velocity and power pitching.

Ike Davis will finally get off to the good start he’s been looking for and Wilmer Flores will settle into an 18-HR, 75-RB I sophomore season.

New shortstop Alexei Ramirez (traded for Daniel Murphy and Eric Young Jr.) fits right into the new Mets infield that includes a 100% healthy David Wright.

The platoon on Matt den Dekker and Juan Lagares worked well (combined .286, 10-HR, 71-RBI) in center, Shin-Soo Choo had an all-star season in left, and the remarkable second half season of Cesar Puello in right was the difference.

The Mets will make the playoffs in 2014.

They won’t get in the World Series, but they will get their first taste of playoff blood in quite a while. Matt Harvey will spend 2014 healing.

There.

I got this out of my system.

  1. Thanks, Mack! I'm so tired of all the gloom and doom articles, I could hurl. You helped one die-hard Mets fan with a much needed attitude adjustment,

  2. You think there is any chance Johan returns?

  3. No.

I got to meet him a couple of times and I talked to a lot of people that know him very much. He's all business.

He's not a candidate for some cheap deal.

  4. Thanks for the uplifting report. There is so little to look forward to as a Met's (and a Jet's) fan this year...needed something to wipe away the low hanging clouds....

  5. He will be if he wants a job next year. Two shoulder surgeries in three years? He needs to come back cheap for a year on a team with warm weather, and prove he can finally stay healthy for 30 starts.

I'm guessing the Rangers or Angels sign him...
