Mets Minor League Report – August 20
MML Player of the Day - Aug. 20: Kingsport SP Chris Flexen
Las Vegas (72-57) trip Salt Lake (74-57) 6-3.
Rafael Montero, not dominant, but in PCL it‘s tough to dominate: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 9 H, 2 BB, 3 K.
Justin Hampson (W, 6-2) enters with 2 out in the 8th, gets the out and benefits from th 51‘s 4 run 9th to overtake the Bees and get the win: 1.1 IP, 0 R, H, BB.
Lucas Duda: 1-5, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, 2 R.
Matt den Dekker: 3-4, 3 RBI, R.
Ruben Tejada: 3-5, R.
Bowie (65-63) beats Binghamton (80-49) 4-1.
Greg Peavy tosses 6.0 solid innings: R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K.
Ryan Fraser (L, 1-2) not so much: 1.2 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, K.
Joe Bonfe: 3-3, 2B.
Josh Rodriguez: 1-3, 2B, BB, R.
Allan Dykstra: 1-4, RBI.
St Lucie (65-53) @ Palm Beach (57-65) suspended (rain) with St Lucie leading 4-2 after 4 ½ innings.
Rainy Lara, not at his best but with the lead, won’t get the win unless he comes back to pitch when the game is resumed: 4.2 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K.
Kevin Plawecki: 2-3, R.
T.J. Rivera: 1-2, RBI, R.
Savannah (71-52) slams Kannapolis (53-72) 5-2.
Another outstanding start for Gabriel Ynoa: (W, 14-4) 7.0 IP, 2 R, 5 H, (HR) 0 BB, 3 K. Yhe 20 yr old Ynoa continues to impress, with a 2.71 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, 7.48 K/9 and an amazing 1.03 BB/9 in 122.2 IP.
After Hunter Carnivale pitched a perfect 8th inning with 1 K, Beck Wheeler (S, 17) came in and allowed only 1 BB with a K in the 9th.
Jeff Reynolds: 2-4, BB, 2 RBI.
Brandon Nimmo: 3-5, 2 RBI, R.
Brooklyn (31-29) stumps Staten Island (24-36) 2-0.
Dario Alvarez held S.I. scoreless for 5.0 innings despite walking 6 and giving up 3 hits. He struck out 5.
Juan Urbina, (W, 2-1) again looking very good in getting the win: 0 H, BB, K. After Paul Paez holds the Yankees at bay for 1.0 innings, (H, BB, 2 K) Johnny Magliozzi (S, 6) comes in to pitch the 9th inning, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 1 to earn his 6th save.
Matt Oberste: 1-3, 2 RBI.
Edward Rohan: 1-1, 2B, BB, R.
Kingsport (33-25) shuts down Burlington (26-32) 1-0.
A magnificent outing or Chris Flexen, (W, 7-1) going all the way: 9.0 IP, 0 R, 4 ER, 2 H, BB, 11 K. With a 2.14 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP, the 18 yr old Flexen looks like he could be another in the long line of young Mets outstanding arms.
Amed Rosario: 2-3, 2B, RBI.
GCL Mets (17-35) clobber GCL Cardinals (22-30) 13-10 in 12 innings
Starter Casey Meisner pitched a solid 5.0 innings: 2 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 5 K.
After Meisner left, 3 Mets pitchers let a 10-2 lead slip away, allowing 8 runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings.
The 5th Mets pitcher, Gaither Bumgardner, (W, 2-2) restored order: 2.0 IP. 0 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K.
Jhoan Urena: 3-3, 2B, BB, 4 RBI, 2 R, SB. (also a CS)
Leon Canelon, who pinch hit for Urena in the 8th inning and then replaced him at third, was 2-3, 3B, 3 RBI.
Wuilmer Becerra: 3-6, HR, BB, 2 RBI, R. Becerra also had a game saving outfield assist, throwing out a runner at the plate with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th.
DSL Yankees (39-26) @ DSL Mets1 (19-48) postponed (rain).
DSL Mets2 (42-25) @ DSL Rangers (48-18) postponed (rain).
