Seth Lugo Named SALLY League Pitcher of the Week

Home Debut Earns Lugo SAL Pitcher of the Week

Savannah, GA – It was announced Monday that Seth Lugo of the Savannah Sand Gnats was recognized as the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 5-11.

Lugo, 23, pitched seven scoreless innings in Savannah on August 10 versus the Hickory Crawdads. He struck out 11 on the night while allowing only four hits and walking none. His ERA now stands at 0.69.

The Louisiana native had his first start for the Sand Gnats in Greenville on August 4. He gave up one earned run in six innings.

Lugo joined the Sand Gnats roster from Brooklyn on August 3 when LHP Matthew Koch (6-4, 4.70) was placed on the Savannah Disabled List with a head injury.

Lugo went 2-4 with a 4.19 ERA for the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League. He was acquired by the New York Mets organization in the 34^th Round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Centenary (La.) College.
