Draft 14 – Braxton Davidson, Josh Morgan, Grant Hockin, Tyler Beede, Jeff Hoffman

draft - braxton davidson8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 15. Braxton Davidson, OF, TC Roberson HS (NC) - The 6’-3”, 215-pound left-hander will be one of the best prep bats in the 2014 MLB draft due to his bat speed, advanced approach at the plate and raw power. He shows good pitch recognition, and his strong wrists allow him to wait on any pitch. Over 31 games as a junior, he hit .403 with seven doubles, eight home runs, and drew 30 walks for a .600 OBP/.831 SLG. His strong arm would play well in a corner outfield spot. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99

8-31-13 – Area Code Games - Josh Morgan (SS) 6’0″ 185 (R/R); 2014 Strong, athletic frame. Contact/LD hitter w/quick bat; BA game power. Lives in middle of diamond and see better days ahead of him with the bat. Not a re-do, but needs to iron out the swing (must minimize leg kick and get front foot down earlier as game speeds up). Avg./fringy plus runner w/plus instincts on base paths; SB threat. Polished defender w/active lower half. Sure, soft hands w/good mobility and body control to throw on run. Enough arm to stay at SS; 55arm. Bat is suspect. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/31/area-code-notes/

8-15-13 - Under Armour All-Star Game – Grant Hockin, RHP:  Projectable arm with a loose body that sits low 90s but can hit 95 mph.   Throws curve and change with solid command for his age. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/08/2014-mlb-draft-ua-game-roster-and-preview-plus-more-tickets-and-meet-up-information/

9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 3 – White Sox – RHSP Tyler Beede – Vanderbilt – Miami’s reluctance to go give out big bucks is the XXXX gain with the  Beede pick. The runner-up for the Golden Spike Award as a sophomore is easily the top college righty in the draft. The classic 6-4 power pitcher has, according to TTF, “a classic three-pitch mix with a mid-90s plus fastball with great movement, a plus power curveball and a deceptive change-up that freezes hitters.” He has had some problems pounding the zone but a pro pitching coach can straighten that out. Beede has  big time talent that projects as someone that can easily start the season at the A+ or AA level.

9-10-13 – Top Arms in 2013 Cape Cod League - Jeff Hoffman 6-4/183, Hyannis Harborhawks 24.1 IP, 33K, 3.70 ERA: FB 93-97 CB 78-82 CH 86-89-  Hoffman has put himself in the discussion of top 5 picks for next year’s draft. His FB is thrown with downward plane and flashes late bore. His CB is tight with depth in the zone and late break. His CH is firm but has run. Other than one outing, he dominated CCBL line-ups. http://bullpenbanter.com/2013-all-cape-team-pitchers/
