MML Player of the Day - Sept. 4:    Savannah LF Stefan Sabol

Salt Lake pulls it out, beating Las Vegas 4-3 to take a 1-0 series lead.

Following down the path that Binghamton blazed earlier this evening, Vegas, after sprinting to a 3-0 lead, allows Salt Lake to tie in the 8th and win in the 9th.

Matt Fox starts and goes 5.2 innings: 2 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 2 K.

Relievers Justin Hampson (1.0 IP) is perfect, and Greg Burke (0.2 IP) allows only 1 BB.

Sean Henn comes in with 1 out in the 8th and allows the tying run on a hit and a walk without getting an out. John Church then gets the out he is asked to get, and in a lefty righty switch, Robert Carson gets the final out of the 8th after giving up 1 hit.

In the 9th, Carson (BS, 1) ( L, 0-1) serves up a 2 out home run for the walk-off loss.

 

Dustin Lawley: 1-4, 2 RBI.

Mike Baxter: 2-4, 3B, R.

Eric Campbell: 1-3, BB, RBI, R.

 

Trenton comes back to beat Binghamton 6-5 in 10 innings, lead series 1-0.

Bingo giveth, and Trenton taketh away. After scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th to take a 5-3 lead, Binghamton hands over 3 runs in the bottom of that inning to self destruct.

Noah Syndergaard was not dominant tonight: 6.0 IP, 3 R, 7 H, BB, 8 K.

Frank Francisco pitched a perfect 7th inning, and Chase Bradford tossed 2.0 scoreless, allowing only 1 hit, striking out 3.

Jeff Walters (BS, 1) (L, 0-1) gives up 3 R on 5 H, getting only 2 outs in the 10th inning.

 

Danny Muno: 3-4, 2 2B, 2 BB, R.

Darrell Ceciliani: 3-5, R.

Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, 2 RBI, R.

 

Savannah crushes Augusta 10-2, leads best of 3 series 1-0.

Gabriel Ynoa (W, 1-0) comes up big: 7.2 IP, 2 R, 7 H, BB, 4 K.

Paul Sewald continued where he left off in the regular season: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 K.

 

The Sand Gnats were more like Killer Bees tonight, stinging the Green Jackets for 16 hits, with 6 of their starters having multiple hit games.

Maikis De La Cruz: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R.

Stefan Sabol: 3-5, 2B, 4 RBI, R. Sabol also had an outfield assist.

 

Brooklyn (38-37) trips Tri City (44-32) 4-2.

Jeuris Familia pitched an inning and gives up a run on 1 hit.

Miller Diaz (W, 7-3) gets the win: 4.0 IP, R, 5 H, 3 BB, 5 K.

Kevin McGowan, (2 H, BB, 3 K) David Wynn, (BB) and Johnny Magliozzi (S, 9) (2 BB) combine to hold the Valley Cats scoreless the rest of the way.

 

Juan Carlos Gamboa: 1-3, HR, BB, RBI, 2 R.
