September 15th - Mets 1, Marlins 0 (12 innings)
Sunday in Flushing the Mets and Marlins were scoreless through 11 ½ innings. But with the bases loaded and 2 out, Travis d’Arnaud singled driving in Lucas Duda with the game winner as the Mets beat the Marlins 1-0 and clinch a win of their 4 game set. This one was a 12 inning pitching duel, it started with Dillon Gee and Tim Koehler. Gee was stellar once again, going 7 1/3 before getting into a jam and being replaced by Pedro Feliciano. Gee allowed only 6 hits no runs he walked 2 and struck out 8….netting the no decision. Koehler was a tad better going 8, allowing 3 hits no runs walking none and striking out 5. The defensive play of the game for the Mets came in the top of the ninth. LaTroy Hawkins worked himself into a 1st and 2nd with one out jam….on a grounder to Daniel Murphy, Murphy threw to third and nailed Aidney Hechavarria at third putting an end to the Marlins most serious threat. Gonzalez Germen was a star out of the pen. He struck out 5 in two innings of relief. Vic Black pitched the 12th and gets his first major league win and first win as a Met. Zach Phillips takes the loss for the Marlins. With the win the Mets improve to 67-82 on the season and 31-43 at home.Monday is the Mets last off day of the season. Tuesday the Giants come to town for a 3 game series. Zach Wheeler (7-5 3.22) looks for win #8. Yusmiero Petit (3-0 2.53) goes for San Francisco. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
