If the season would end tonight, the Mets would be tied for seventh worst record in the league. This would mean that the Mets 2014 1st Round draft pick would be protected from free agent compensation. Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), only the teams with the ten worst records have their picks protected, and their pick in the draft is secured
The Mets need to keep losing. If they can get up to 6th I believe an elite talent is a lock for them.
ReplyDeleteWe just need the Brewers, Mariners, and Twins to cooperate and win some games.
Am I the only one who was disappointed with last night's comeback win?
Nope I def. was because all those teams won last night, so we gained nothing.
ReplyDeleteWith 10 games to play HOUSTON, MIAMI, WHITE SOX AND CUBS are the first 4 picks.
ReplyDeleteWe are fighting with TWINS, MARINERS, BREWERS, ROCKIES, TORONTO and maybe GIANTS for a top 10... hopefully between 5-7 pick.
We play 3 with Phillies, 3 with REDS and 4 with Brewers.
Yeah rooting for us to lose sucks and we have Freddy (yes we have money to spend)Wilpon to thank for being in this position
ReplyDeleteI'd really like another high-ceiling bat in the system as well as a top FA signing. It's worth losing the rest of the games this year.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but be ambivalent about winning and losing as the season winds down. During the games I have to root for the Mets, but when the game is not on the line, intellectually I conclude that having the worst record definitely has its advantages.
ReplyDeleteI can't see why Gary says we have Wilpon to thank for this. Maybe if he said Madoff, it would make more sense. I wonder who the fans of the Twins, Mariners, Brewers, Rockies and Blue Jays have to thank for this. The Jays are a prime example of why the owners shouldn't be tarred and feathered. They spent big during the off season (as did the Marlins the prior off season) and were still mediocre. Maybe they should all blame the Wilpons.
It's Walter White's fault
