  1. The Mets should kick the tires on Kazmir. They could use another lefty starter, especially if they trade Niese. I like Garza too, he's more effective in NL, and his lackluster showing in Texas has pushed down both length and and dollar amount for his next contract. Plus, he wouldn't cost a 2nd round draft pick. If Harvey misses all of 2014, they could then slide either a Dice K or Harang type starter into the 5th spot. Depending on what SP the Mets trade this offseason, Garza could be a legitimate 2.

    Also, Cabrera is someone the Mets should look at. He'll only be 28 next season, is a switch hitter and has power. Most importantly, since he's fallen out of favor in Cleveland, he won't cost much-he'd be a huge upgrade over what we currently have. And if Alderson wanted to get real creative he could then potentially ship Cabrera (and others) off to Colorado for Tulo, either in a 3 team deal or in a separate transaction.
