HOT STOVE FLASH - Nelson Cruz
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Rangers have decided to tender a one-year, $14.1 million qualifying offer to Nelson Cruz, which he is expected to turn down in favor of a multi-year deal.
Unfortunately now that he will cost the Mets a draft pick I doubt they will go after him. I know our first pick is protected but I don't they will bite on Cruz. Are options seem to be dwindling already.
I'm expecting to lose the 2nd round pick. I think we all will be pleasantly surprised with Alderson's approach this off season, though the 'big bat' might come via a trade.
Cruz wants to stay put but Texas wants him to move on. Many teams will pass due to his drugs connection, but the Mets had success in this area with Marlon Byrd.
Thank you Mack. I have been following your site for some time. You and your writers are doing a great job. Nice to have a sane, mature voice. Keep up the good work. I also believe they will use their second round pick but I would like it a more solid choice.

FIVE DAYS TO LIFT OFF.....GO GET EM SANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading that Sandy will target the mid-level, F/A market to fill the many needs. Who are they? Is Byrd one of them?

ReplyDeleteI consider Byrd mid-level.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way of knowing who he's targeting right now.
I expect his biggest move will be via a trade.
Thank you, Joe.
