Draft 16 – Cody Poteet, Austin Bergner, Issak Gutierrez, TrevinHazeltine, Anthony Molina

11-12-13 - We continue the countdown today with number 73, UCLA pitcher RHP Cody Poteet. In his freshman campaign with the Bruins, Poteet was slotted as a midweek starter making 29 appearances, including 11 starts. While on the bump for the Bruins, the right-hander went 4-6, compiling 56 strikeouts and posting a 4.84 ERA. With a tough Bruin’s schedule, Poteet found himself in many big spots, yet the freshman did not let that change his approach. In 70.2 IP the 6’1” pitcher only gave up 57 hits and allowed only .227 opposing batting average which was good for 7th in the Pac-12. The Bonita, CA native attended Christian High School where he was a three year varsity letter winner. Following his junior season, he earned first-team All-East County and first-team All-Eastern League awards as a third baseman after breaking the school record with 55 hits and a .509 average. Poteet chose not to play for Christian in 2012 and instead chose to play for club team ABD Bulldogs where he went 10-1 with 112 strikeouts while posting a 2.10 ERA. He was ranked No. 189 on Baseball America’s top 500 2012 MLB Draft eligible player list and was selected in the 27th round by the Washington Nationals. http://ht.ly/2BpPGG

11-7-13 – 9 Baseball – 2016 Top 50 High School Prospects – #2  - Austin Bergner – RHP, West Orange (FL) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-50-2016-rankings/

11-7-13 - 2013 California Underclass Showcase –  Isaak Gutierrez - RHP - 2016 - Norwalk, CA -  Good fastball/changeup combination, mixes them well. Good movement on low-mid 80s fastball, good arm speed and deception on the changeup, solid curveball as well. Also swung the bat well. http://www.perfectgame.org/events/Showcases/TopProspectList.aspx?event=1692

9-9-13 – Top 10 Far West League Prospects - 3. Trevin Haseltine, rhp, California (Fr., California) - Haseltine stands out as a projectable righthander with a great pitcher’s frame and a live arm. Standing at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Haseltine works in the 88-92 mph range with his fastball and mixes in a changeup that has good tumbling action as well as a sweeping low-80s slider. He struck out 40 in 33 innings this summer but also walked 17 and posted a 4.36 ERA. His arm action is a little long and he has some funk in his delivery, but he creates heavy downhill action with a high arm slot. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/far-west-league-top-10-prospects/

10-28-13 – Jim Callis - Right-hander Anthony Molina didn't reach the mid-90s in two innings of work for the South Florida Elite Squad on Saturday, though he did touch 93 mph twice and averaged 90 mph. He's still growing into his 6-foot-4, 184-pound frame and could stand to tighten his clean delivery a bit. He worked mainly with his fastball, which accounted for 29 of his 38 pitches (21 for strikes), and mixed in a few 74-76 mph curveballs. He struck out four batters and left with a 3-1 lead, though the Dallas Tigers eventually rallied for a 5-4 win. Though Molina still has three high school seasons ahead of him, he already has committed to Miami. http://ht.ly/qeYJz
