Martino cites league sources who are skeptical that the Mets will be
willing to spend enough to land Peralta, Curtis Grandson or Nelson Cruz,
all of whom they've expressed interest in. Peralta is said to be
seeking at least a three-year, $45 million contract.
Well if the Mets can't afford even the B-level FA's then really it's time to sell the team. This is a NY team for crissakes, if you can't even afford a Peralta, Granderson, or Cruzy--I mean seriously WTF is the point. We've ridden out three years of this ownership getting back on their feet, well it's time to put up or shut up Fred and Jeff because if you don't improve this team dramatically you won't like what you see once summer rolls around-empty seats at Citi-Field will be the least of your problems. That low murmur of Mets fans and media grumbling will become a deafening shout, "to sell the team". It may seem absurd now, but if this team is out of it by August. It could get ugly really fast for the current ownership regime. Owning a sports franchise is a privilege not a right. Huey Lewis and Boyz II Men concerts doesn't cut it, simply put they need to put quality product on the field of play in 2014.
Time to shit or get off the pot
ReplyDeleteGood old Andy Martino the writer who always puts a negative spin on everything the mets do.
ReplyDeleteSorry Greg:
ReplyDeleteBut how can you put a positive spin on what Sandy and his cronies are doing?
Its not Andy's fault Sandy has promised spending, now he;s complaining about prices too high?

ReplyDeleteMartino has always been way ahead of the facts. He was basically run out of Philly for reporting a bunch of almost-truths.
I suggest you don't quote him as an accurate source.
Steve ur right about there isnt positive news to right about the mets, but if you watch Martino's reporting he seems to always mock the mets and he never seems to like any player the mets have in the minors. He seems to me that he wants them to fail.

ReplyDeleteMartino thinks that he's funny.
Funny people don't TRY to be funny, they just are.
People that try to be funny are called wise asses.
