League Futures Top 25 Poll – 5 Michael Gettys OF Gainesville (GA) http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/11/26/mlb-draft-top-25-prospects-poll/
B/R – 11-21-13 - 24. Cleveland Indians: Luke Weaver, RHP, Florida State - Although Luke Weaver lacks
physical projection at 6’2”, 175 pounds, he’s one of the younger college
players in the 2014 draft class and won’t turn 21 until next August. Pitching
for Team USA this past summer, the right-hander’s fastball sat 91-95 mph and
registered as high as 97 toward the end of the year. Weaver’s above-average
changeup in the low-80s currently represents his best secondary offering and
could develop into a plus with experience. His inconsistent and slurvey
breaking ball leaves something to be desired, though it’ll presumably be
cleaned up as a professional and likely converted into more of a true slider.

Medeiros is a short, lean lefty at around 6' and 185 LBS. The first time I
saw I him I thought he had a nice swing and could be a decent OF prospect if he
could run and he had an athletic frame that looked like it could be a
reasonable expectation. His actions at the plate reminded me a bit of Johnny
Damon. Worth watching more of, for sure but then I saw him pitch. That resolved
any thought of me seeing more of him at the plate. He could get out big
leaguers right now and I'm not exaggerating. His fastball is 90-93 touching 94
but that's just the appetizer. It has run in on lefties like a screwball. It
fades away from righties. You can see lefties bail as it attacks them making it
impossible to hit well with any frequency. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/12/8/5181602/2014-mlb-draft-profile-kodi-medeiros-lhp-hilo-hi-high-school

Any news about Getty being able to hit a changeup this year ,I heard he has trouble with the curve and the off speed stuff?
ReplyDeleteI think you are referring to the recent article on him by John Sickles and Company.
ReplyDeleteYes, he has work to do with the changeup but you and I should have these problems
