1-1-14 - It is now 2014, and Tyler Beede is five months away from looking like a genius. Just about every 2014 MLB mock draft has the Vanderbilt right-hander who finished 14-1 in 2013 going in the top 10. Many mock drafts have him going in the top five, and there are even a few that have him going No. 1 overall.  If he stays healthy — a conditional statement that has started just about every sentence that references Beede’s decision to go to Vanderbilt instead of signing with the Blue Jays — his decision never will be criticized again. 12-9-13 – Pine Tar Press  -  28- RHP Scott Blewett Baker HS (St. John’s Commit) The kid from New York would definitely be a working project for any club that takes him. But, the 6’6 righty also is easy to like because he does not have the wear on his arm that a kid from a baseball rich state typically has. Greg Deichmann, SS, Brothers Martin HS (LA) - Left-handed hitting power shortstops are a nice commodity to have, and the 6’-2”, 190-pound Deichmann has a chance to stick at short due to his strong arm, speed and instincts in the field. He has excellent bat speed and can put on displays in the cage during batting practice. Even if he ends up at third, the power and arm will play well.
