FLASH - Mets Make Stephen Drew An Offer

Mike Francesa also just said the have made Stephen Drew an offer.

Drew offer?

Is Francesa just stirring shit up, or is there actually something going on? I can't tell from my TL, at the moment. Seems 50/50.

I have yet to hear anything re: the and Drew, but I will say that Francesa is normally pretty credible when it comes to these things.

  1. Let me guess. 7 years 106M and a box of chocolates from Sandy the Clown.

  3. Sometimes as bloggers we just need to stop criticizing the GM and let the man do his job....

If he gets a deal done, its just another sign of how patient and shrewd Sandy is to get the deal he wants.

He did it with Dickey and got 3 Legit prospects.

He did it with Byrd and Buck and got two Top 15 prospects.

  7. Sandy has done some good trades. He has also made some very bad signings.
Frank Francisco 12M, Chris Young 7.25, Farmsworth who could end up earning 2.5M instead of 1.8M for Hawkins, keeps going back to Quintanilla and a bunch of released players from both the Padres and A's. Duda, Davis, Eric Young are all still here, expected to play. Yet, the one player with a good bat is without a position, Flores.

  8. Interesting! Directly contradictory statements by Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News (#Mets source says no offer on the table for Stephen Drew at this time.) tweeted at 2:49 PM, and Mike Francessa on WFAN (“It’s number of years, they’ve already made him an offer. It’s the number of years. They’re fighting over the number of years. I know they have made him an offer … It’s not the money. . . . They already offered him the money. It’s a questions of years. They already made him an offer.")

Sure sounds like Mike knows what he is talking about. Mack, I only hope your "source" is correct. When they say they are fighting over the number of years, it is usually as good as a done deal.

I am energized. There are advantages on many levels to a Drew deal. He becomes their leadoff hitter. Lagares job looks much more secure. Another hitter with some pop (10-15 HR) is added to the lineup. Up the middle defense is strengthened. Can't wait for an announcement.

  9. key wordage here is 'on the table'

sort of a non denial denial

trust me... the Mets have made an offer... may not be the one Drew and Boras wants to hear, but this is far from dead

  10. I'm not sure why so many people want/think Drew can be the leadoff hitter. I'm not so sure...
