Alonzo only hit .218 in Bingo last year, without power. His career, with all the OFs they have, had to be on life support. he just wasn't nearly good enough to make the bigs.
I saw the entire list of cuts on Adam Rubin's blog.
Only Camarena stood out to me as questionable.
It looks like the Mets have cleaned out the middle range of their system so then can unclog AAA/AA and send some of those players back down. Also, it cleans up certain areas that will allow for the 'prospects' to get more innings/at bats.
Hey mack - I saw Phil Evans, who you were very high on in 2011, got a hit today. Only hit a powerless .203 in Savannah last year. Does he have any chance of getting back into the race to the top with the big team?
Re Evans... I'd like to say he would but you sometimes get only one chance. He's had two. and now the Mets have Cecchini, Rosario, McNeil, Cruzado, Guillmorme in the pipeline...
Wow...wasn't Camarena one of your guys, Mack? If so, is he a victim of overcrowding?

ReplyDeleteI'm very surprised about Camerena. Yes, he was wild but still could sit in the mid 90s. Viola loved his potential.
@Mack
ReplyDeleteK/9 rate had dropped to below Bartolo Colon levels...without pinpoint command that kind of strikeout rate is not gonna fly.
still, it seemed early to give up on him...
ReplyDeleteRe: Alonzo Harris -
ReplyDeleteI don't want to hit the guy while he's down, but it's hard to read his tweet and believe it was fun for him... this guy NEVER smiled...

Very sound moves.
I 100% agree - make room for guys who really have a chance to move up fast.
