Mack’s Mets writer Luis Tirado
Jr. has decided to shut down his own web site and also turned in
his ‘resignation’ to Mack’s Mets. He has decided to write exclusively for his
new job with Rant Sports.
We wish him well.
Matt Gad @JustGaddy16 Protected Tweets - After a few months, I'm announcing that
I'll be leaving Mack's Mets due to conflicting writing opportunities
Mack's Mets @JohnMackinAde - @JustGaddy16 - am I worth an explanation here?
Mack – I’ve called for a special session of the United National
General Assembly to consider sactions on the exodus on Mack’s Mets writers.
There seems to be a concerned effort to recruit the young member of the staff writers I have the site.
As you
know the future of this muli-mega site (sic) that produces a tremendous more
money than the gross national product of small to medium
nations (double-sic) is of grave concern to the stock holders of Mack’s Mets.
Anderson Cooper will be flying to the home of Mack Ade to report live from his front porch on this story...wait a minute... I don't have a front porch.
Who's next? Will Herb leave to write for The Christian Monitor? Or will Craig Mitchell decide that being a professional writer and comedian is only a precursor for a life in politics?
Stay tuned...
Jeff Sullivan @JSully12 - My No. 1 HS prospect Michael Gettys goes 3-3 tonight with a HR, Double,
Single and a walk. 3 RBI and 3 SB.
Source – I’m
being told by an onsite reliable source that SS Wilfredo
Tovar came to camp this year out of shape,
which may be the reason for him early injury (just what we needed was another
out of shape shortstop). You would think, if this was true, that the poor boy
would have kept up with the Tejada drama and hit the weight room a little
during the off-season.
The baseball world is waking up to Noah Synergaard. Most of the Atlanta
Braves that faced him on Monday are quickly spreading the world to their
friends on other National league teams that the Mets have found a third ‘ace’
to go along with Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler. The good news for these teams is they won’t have to face him
in a real game until sometime after the all-star break, but 2015 is a whole new
ballgame for the New York Mets!
Jonathan Mayo –
Breakout candidate: Gabriel Ynoa - There might be top-end pitching talent
near the top of the system in guys like Montero and Syndergaard, but there's
also some very exciting arms lower down in the system.
It's hard to say a
pitcher is primed for a breakout after leading the organization in wins and
finishing fifth in ERA during his first taste of full-season ball. But Ynoa, a
20-year-old Dominican, has the chance to jump on a fast track in 2014.
Ynoa is a
strike-thrower extraordinaire, one who walked just 16 in 135 2/3 innings a year
ago. He's not a soft-tosser, though, with a fastball in the 93 mph range and a
very good feel for a changeup. The No. 16 prospect in the organization still
has plenty of room for improvement, and the Mets feel it's coming. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/nym/improved-farm-system-has-mets-future-looking-bright?ymd=20140303&content_id=68610986&vkey=news_nym
"He has a great feel for pitching, he's always in the
bottom of the zone, pitches to both sides of the plate," Scott said.
"He's always thrown strikes, but his stuff has just gotten tighter. He'll
start in the Florida State League, but we'll try to get him to Double-A."
Tony Clark –
"Let me offer you
this: If there are concerns, what often ends up happening is we have an
opportunity, along with Major League Baseball, to sit down and discuss perhaps
what the game plan might be or could be going forward. Is New York one of the
marquee franchises? Yes. Will they always be? Yes. Are we paying attention in
general? Yes."
Mack – Clark is the union rep (ex-Met) who visited the clubhouse on
Tuesday… don’t read anything into this. A representative of our current
Commissioner, discussing the Wilpons, is like Obama talking about Putin. All
hot air.

Comment From john - Terry
Collins says that EY Jr will start and be his lead-off guy. Now says that
Dice-K is his favorite for the SP5 spot. Is it a waste to have a FO with
Alderson and co with a guy like Terry Collins who clearly doesn’t care about
stats and only wants to coddle veterans?
Dan
Szymborski: Yeah, I’ve noticed these
decisions. If this is the kind of decision-making the Mets make during the
spring, might as well give everyone an extra month of vacation and ask them to
show up bright eyed and bushy-tailed on March 15th.
Tuesday
ST Highlights –
SP Zack Wheeler opened
the game with a 1-2-3 1st inning (his curve looked a little hittable)…
gave up a double in the 2nd on a fastball that only hit 91… ended
the 2nd with a 94 mph strikeout, but it was his change-up and curve
that got him through the two innings. Needs work on the fastball… a great throw
by Chris Young threw out a potential double in the 3rd… and Wheeler
got his 3rd K for the 3rd out in the 3rd with
another 94-mph FA… A for effort.
That was a nice display in the first by
the OF combo of Young, Young, and Granderson… walk, double, home run… 3-0 Mets.
Regarding Grandy’s two home runs…
remember… the dimensions of this field are the same as Citi Field…
RP Kyle Farnsworth pitched the 4th… I just
don’t see this guy making the club with his sub-90 fastball…
We probably have seen
the last of RP Erik Goeddel this spring…
Vic Black…
three pitches… last, a large curve for a looking strike three… that’s exactly
what you want for a setup guy… but… three walks in the next inning got him
pulled
Vic Black's achilles heel has been his control, so hopefully it is early and he works it out.
ReplyDeleteSeratelli has no chance now that 55 year old Julio Franco says he wants to play meaningful March baseball with the Mets. next, Dwight Gooden may bump Dice-K since he is more seasoned.
I think when Tejada went to fat camp and they changed his diet, instead of throwing out all the food back at the hacienda, Ruben gave it all to Tovar. Tovar hopes to be in shape by Cinco de Mayo
Sources tell me that Kenny Powers is no longer eastbound and down.......mets interested.
DeleteWith my stand up comedy career having been put on hold since leaving California, and my book holding steady, ranking in the top 3 million in sales on Amazon (cant believe there are even 3million books for sale in there) I have consulted my manager, agent, and PR guy...................
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm gonna keep writing for macks mets.
Thomas -
ReplyDeleteThis is the time for Black to be wild. Look at it this way... if all he was brought in was for that one batter in the inning before... 1-2-3-... strikeout looking... and we'd be praising his potential to be a ROOGY
Tovar - just plain stupid and should be sent back home before being assigned to Las Vegas. Get him away from the Herrera's and Guillorme's that are busting their ass off to impress out there
Ernest -
ReplyDeleteThank you, grasshopper.
It's been a bad week for losing writers. It sounds like both Luis and Matt got pressured to write exclusively elsewhere. Luis first said he didn't have the time but then admitted that he will be taken on additional work at Rant... writing about the Mets... hmm... and Matt... well, he just turned 17 and I probably shouldn't have recruited someone that young or the site.
I wish them both well but the site is pretty dry right now for new posts...
(psst... you got one coming?)
It's pretty bad when the guy stuck in El Paso is being relied upon to contribute steadily with news and opinions on what's going on in Queens (and Port St. Lucie). :-)
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if the "out of shape" phrase is a COMMENTARY virus spread by reporters as "insight" into every cramp, twinge, or arm soreness incident which, as long as I can remember, are standard ST fare.
ReplyDeleteHobie -
ReplyDeleteDon't know. My source was not a reporter.
Reese -
ReplyDeleteMy apologies but I sometime have a hard time understanding the written word...
Did I upset you?
You have done a wonderful job writing 'from El Paso' about all things baseball and Mets related. The site wouldn't be a success without you.
Hi Mack
ReplyDeleteWe have Loogy and we have Roogy - if a guy is a one batter pitcher regardless on felfty/righty, does that make him a Boogy? (Please don't think by this comment that I am nasal retentive). If so, we've had a lot of Boogy guys in pen over the years.
If a reliever was equally effective against righties AND lefties....no manager in their right mind would let him face only 1 batter :) thus the non-existence of a "BOOGY"
ReplyDeleteCan Collins just keep his mouth shut for a little while and let some of these competitions play out? If he doesn't think it effects the players a little, he is dead wrong. Mejia and Lagares deserve better than that.
ReplyDeleteJust like the front office leaks, just shut up!!!!
Mack -
ReplyDeleteYou gave me an opportunity to write and I am ever grateful. Loyalty is a very big thing with me and I am with you for the long haul. I only wish I had more time to write. It takes me a long time to compose my thoughts and then edit so it comes out just the way I want it to. Anyway, the Christian Science Monitor probably doesn't want any part of my Liberal, Jewish ass.

ReplyDeleteHA
hey mack
ReplyDeletesaw the Injuries list - what is the deal with Boyd? is he still hurt after surgery, or just not removed from the list?
Thomas -
ReplyDeleteI can't get a read on Boyd... let me ask around...
@Mack and @Tom
ReplyDeleteBoyd had surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome but I'm not sure if it was due to a pinched nerve, vein, or artery.
If it was for the nerve (which i think it was) Boyd should be undergoing physical therapy to get his strength back from having a rib removed out of his body.
I too will ask around.
No, I was joking, Mack. I just was amused that I sit 2000 miles away from the action and can find ways to contribute where the people closer to the games can't find a way to provide content, too.
