PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – The Jacksonville Suns (Miami Marlins) plated six runs off starter Hansel Robles and handed the Binghamton Mets a 6-2 loss on Wednesday afternoon at the Mets Spring Training complex.
Robles was tagged for six runs over five innings of work. The Bonao, Dominican Republic native surrendered two home runs to the Marlins Double-A affiliate. The right-hander went 5-4 with a 3.72 ERA in 15 starts with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) last year. Erik Goeddel, a member of the 2013 B-Mets starting rotation, put up a perfect ninth inning while working in relief.
Dustin Lawley provided most of the offense, delivering an RBI and pair of hits, including a triple. The 24-year-old led all Mets Minor Leaguers with 26 home runs between St. Lucie and Las Vegas (AAA) last year. He was named the Florida State League Most Valuable Player and took home the St. Lucie Sterling Award.
It is great seeing some sort of minor league update. Robles looked promising in 2012. 2013 and outings like yesterday certainly lower expectations.
