UPDATE - Brewers First Base Situation
There hasn't yet been an official announcement, but the Brewers appear to be in the process of parting ways with first baseman Juan Francisco. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak reports (via Twitter) that Francisco's locker has been cleared out. The move likely means the Brewers will have veterans Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay play first base. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/03/juan-francisco-brewers-likely-to-part-ways.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I am an offense-starved Mets fan...I will take Wilmer, weak defense and all. A strong bat will help the rest of the line up hit...hitting is contagious, and so is lack of hitting
Unfortunately the team continues to mismanage its young players. If it's not the Super Two thing, then it's a matter of developing man-crushes on minimally talented people like Eric Young and Ruben Tejada who will rob playing time from the likes of Juan Lagares and Wilmer Flores. How do you think a guy like Zach Lutz or Eric Campbell feels when they produce and are never given a chance?
Here is another thing that 'hitting' is... look at the last couple of games where the Mets put up big runs.
It deflates the other team and makes it much easier to get through the rest of the nine innings with a victory.
Oh, and another thing...
It changes the whole attitude of those guys sitting out in the pen... they aren't thinking that they are possibly going to be asked to come in a game that the team is already losing. Instead, they know they will get themselves (at least) a 'hold'
Ike or Duda...they sure are suddenly making it interesting. Real interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm writing about this on Monday at 10am
ReplyDeleteAny reviews of Flores at SS today? His bat was lethal, wondering how he looked in the field.

ReplyDeleteDreams:
ReplyDeleteActually, Flores had a very good day in the field as well as at the plate.

ReplyDeleteZach Lutz and Eric Campbell just play for the wrong team at the wrong positions.
Unfortunately, this sometimes happens and their future will be with some other team.
Think Mike Carp.
