Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix, The Mets completed a 3 game
sweep of the Diamondbacks winning by a score of 5-2. Dillon Gee had a perfect
game through 4 2/3 and Anthony Recker hit his 2nd homer of the year
as the Mets complete the sweep. Gee was
spot on going 7 innings he allowed just 3 hits, no runs, he walked none and
struck out 3. Gee was involved in a physical
put out of Geraldo Parra at 2nd base, that might have been the
reason why he left the game having thrown just 72 pitches. Either way, Gee gets the win he’s now 1-0. Kyle Farnsworth and Scott Rice navigated a
scoreless 8th inning; Jose Valverde pitched the 9th and gave up back to back homers by Aaron Hill
and Paul Goldschmidt to put the Dbacks on the board. The Mets punched out 10
hits on the day. Anthony Recker, Daniel Murphy, David Wright and Andrew Brown each
had 2 hits apiece. Recker, Gee, Murphy, Wright and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had the RBI’s. The Mets finish the road trip with
a 6-3 mark and come home to Flushing on Friday night with a 8-7 record. Friday night starts a 3 game weekend series
hosting the Reds kicking off a 10 game homestand. Jon Niese (0-1 3.46) goes for the Mets, Former Met Aaron
Harang (2-1 0.96) goes for the Reds.
Ain't nothin but a Gee thang.
ReplyDeleteRecker may get more time, per Collins. He should. Great defense, power, and unlike D'Arnaud, he has hit since spring training started. I'd give him 3 games a week until Travis gets going.
