Mets Minor League Report: April 27, 2014
MMLR Players of the Day: The B-Mets‘ lineup. (see below)
Tacoma (11-10) edges Las Vegas (18-6) 5-4.
Logan Verrett (L, 1-2) didn‘t have one of of his better days: 5.0 IP, 5 R, 3 ER, 7 H, (HR) BB, 2 K.
Zack Thornton: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 K.
Josh Edgin: 0.1 IP, BB.
Miguel Socolovich: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K.
Cesar Puello: 2-5, R.
Matt den Dekker: 2-4, BB, R.
Wilmer Flores, (1-2, RBI, R): left early, and was replaced at SS by Danny Muno: 3-3, R.
Binghamton (12-8) bombs Erie (9-12) 9-6.
All 15 runs in this game were scored in the 4th inning.
A terrible day for Rainy Lara. Most unusual. Prior to the fatal fourth inning, Lara gave up only 2 hits. Lara's final line: 3.2 IP, 6 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 2 K.
Jack Leathersich looked good in his 1.1 innings: BB, K. Would be nice to see an outing by the Leather Rocket without a walk.
Jon Velasquez (W, 1-2) pitched 2.0 perfect innings to earn his first win: 4 K.
Cody Satterwhite: 1.0 IP, H, BB.
Chase Bradford (S, 4) tossed a perfect 9th inning. K
In an extremely rare situation, every one of the nine players in the B-Mets lineup scored 1 run, and all in one inning. I wonder how often this has occurred in the past.
SS Matt Reynolds: 2-4, BB, RBI, R.
Travis Taijeron: 1-4, HR, 3 RBI, R.
Bradenton (14-9) edges St. Lucie (13-10) 7-6.
22 yr old Luis Cessa (L, 0-3) appears to be a bit overmatched in the early going at A+ St. Lucie: 6.1 IP, 7 R, 5 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, K. After a 1-2-3 sixth inning, Cessa was sent out to start the 7th and walked 2.
Bret Mitchell replaced Cessa and allowed both inherited runners to score on a 2 out triple: 0.2 IP, R, 4 H, BB, 4 K. The player who tripled was out at the plate trying to stretch it to an inside the park home run.
Julian Hilario finished up: 2.0 IP, 0 R, H, K.
Juan Lagares, making his first rehab start: 1-4.
Gilbert Gomez replaced Lagares in CF after 7 innings: 1-1, 3B, 2 RBI.
Aderlin Rodriguez: 2-4, BB, R.
Eudy Pina: 1-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R.
Albert Cordero: 2-4, BB, RBI, R.
Phillip Evans continues his hot start: 3-4, 2B, R. Evans has his avg. up to .316.
Lakewood (7-16) edges Savannah (14-8) 6--5.
Chris Flexen, (L, 1-2) rounding out a bad day for all four starters for Mets’ farm teams, took the loss: 3.0 IP, 6 R, 4 H, (2 HR) 4 BB, 4 K.
Dario Alvarez, older than the hitter he faces in the SAL, was overpowering again: 3.0 IP, H, BB, 6 K. In 4 games at A-, Alvarez has not allowed a run, has a 0.81 Whip and 12.4 K/9. Time to see if he can handle A+ or even AA.
Akeel Morris, unlike Alvarez, young for his level, was also sharp: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 3 K.
Gavin Cecchini: 3-5, 2 2B, RBI, 2 R.
Dominick Smith: 2-3, 2B, BB, R.
L.J. Mazzilli: 2-3, 3B, BB, 2 RBI, R.
Jared King: 1-4, 2 RBI.
something fishy went on with Flores... something about slow swinging and then a horrible throwing error resulted him from being pulled early by Wally Backman. Maybe we'll hear more tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI thought it might be injury. Hope it is nothing more than a lesson from Wally.
