Palm Beach 1 - St. Lucie 0

The Palm Beach Cardinals took three of four games from the St. Lucie Mets by edging the Mets 1-0 in Sunday's series finale at Roger Dean Stadium.
The lone run scored by the Cardinals came in the fourth when Domingo Tapia threw a wild pitch that allowed Breyvic Valera to score from third with two outs. Valera led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a ground out.
Tapia took the tough luck loss. He pitched five innings and allowed just three hits while striking out three. The Cardinals had pounded Mets pitching for 38 hits over the first three games.
The combination of Cory Jones, Corey Baker and Dixon Llorens shut out the Mets and limited them to five hits. Baker was credited with the win after tossing 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Llorens pitched the final two innings and struck out the side in the ninth to lock down the save.
The Mets had a pair of good scoring chances in the game. The first came in the fifth inning when Eudy Pina led off with a single and took third one batter later on a single by Phillip Evans. Evans advanced to second on a wild throw trying to get Pina and the Mets had runners at second and third with one out. However, Gilbert Gomez struck out looking and Maikis De La Cruz grounded out to end the threat.
Again the Mets put runners on second and third in the seventh on a single by Cole Frenzel and double by Evans. But with two outs, Gomez grounded out harmlessly to second base.
Evans collected a two-hit game for the Mets while Valera notched a multi hit game for the Cardinals.
Brandon Nimmo's three-game hitting streak came to an end, but the center fielder walked and has now reached base in all four games.
Bret Mitchell pitched two innings of hitless relief for the Mets and Randy Fontanez threw a scoreless eighth.
