Ruben Tejada’s pinch hit RBI single scored Anthony Recker
with the go ahead run. The Mets win the nightcap of their doubleheader Sunday
with a 4-2 over the Dbacks. Daisuke
Matsuzaka started for the Mets and pitched brilliantly going 6 innings allowing
just 3 hits, 2 runs (earned) walking 1 and striking out 6. Trailing 2-0 in the
bottom of the 2nd inning, Dice-K brought home the Mets first run
with a broken bat bloop single. In the 5th
Bobby Abreu, who got the start in right, lined an opposite field double scoring
Curtis Granderson from first to tie it up. Tejada, batting for Dice-K in the 6th
gave the Mets the lead for good. Daniel
Murphy continues to hit adding 3 hits, his third on the night drove home Chris Young
from second to give the Mets their 4th run in the bottom of the 8th.
The Mets amassed 13 hits on the game. They were led by Anthony Recker who went
4 for 4. His first career 4 hit game, Murph had 3, Abreu also added a pair of
hits before being replaced by Young. Dice-K improves to 2-0 on the year; Zeke
Spruill gets the loss he’s 0-1. Jenrry Mejia notched his 3rd save,
appearing in both ends of the double dip. The Mets salvage the final game of
this holiday weekend series with Arizona climbing to 22-27 on the year and
11-16 at home. Monday, Ike Davis and the
Pittsburgh Pirates come to town. Jacob
deGrom (0-2 2.77) goes for the Mets, Brandon
Cumpton (0-1 4.26) goes for the Bucs.
