Saturday night in a slug fest at Coors field, Charlie Culberson hit a pinch hit 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th inning, the Rockies win their 3 straight off the Mets with a 11-10 win. The Met s had taken a 10-9 lead in the top of the 9th on a RBI single by Juan Lagares, but it wasn't enough. The Mets led 6-0 going to the bottom of the 5th with Jenrry Mejia on the mound, but Colorado exploded for 8 runs off Mejia in the bottom of the 5th to take a 8-6 lead after 5. The Mets tied the game at 8 in the top of the 6th on an RBI double by Chris Young and an RBI single by Curtis Granderson. Colorado took a 9-8 lead in the top of the 7th with a sac-fly by Jordan Pacheo. The Met tied it at 9 in the 8th on a RBI single by Young….but Culberson was the difference maker in the bottom of the 9th as his 2 run homer was the walk off win. Mejia got hammered after pitching 4 scoreless innings with the 8 runs in the 5th. He went 4 1/3 allowing 9 hits, 8 runs, 8 earned he walked 2 and struck out 3…as his ERA climbs to 5.23. Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief, Kyle Farnsworth takes the loss yielding the game winning home run falling to 0-2. Offensively for the Mets they powered 17 hits on the night. Daniel Murphy went 4 for 6 with 3 runs scored, David Wright went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, Chris Young, Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda and Anthony Recker each had 2 hits apiece in the Mets attack. Young, Granderson and Recker each added 2 RBI apiece. This is the first game the Mets have lost that Anthony Recker has started (6-1). Nolan Arenado had a grand slam in the Rockies 8 run 5th to lead Colorado to its 19th win on the season. The Mets have now lost 3 straight and 3 out of 4 on this 9 game road trip.
