5/4/14
May 4, 2014 -- Mets 5, Rockies 1
Sunday afternoon thanks to another stellar performance by Dillon Gee and an assist from the Met bullpen, the Mets take the get-a-way game from the Rockies with a 5-1 win. Gee has now run his total scoreless inning streak to 16 straight innings. Gee was only challenged once, that came in the bottom of the 5th as he worked out of a 1 out, 2 on jam. Offensively for the Mets the hits keep coming. The Mets totaled 10 hits on the game scoring once in the first, twice in the 3rd and one more time in the 4th to get out to a 4-0 lead. The scorching hot Juan Lagares led the way going 3 for 5 on the game. Chris Young and Daniel Murphy continue to be hot each with 2 hits apiece. The middle of the Mets order did all the heavy lifting as Murphy, Wright, Granderson, Young and Duda each had an RBI. Duda walked 3 times on the game, but his RBI double in the 7th brought home the Mets 5th and final run. Gee went 6, he allowed 6 hits and walked 1 and struck out 5. Gee left the game in the bottom of the 7th with runners on 1st and 2nd, but Carlos Torres and Scott Rice shut the door. Jeurrys Familia finished up pitching the 8th and 9th yielding the only run the Mets gave up on a solo homer by Justin Morneau (7) in the bottom of the 9th to ruin the combined shutout bid. Gee now stands at 3-1 on the year. Jhoulys Chacin takes the loss (0-1). The Mets now are 2-3 on the road trip and 16-14 on the year. Next up the Mets travel to Miami to take on the Marlins. Monday Night Jonathon Niese (2-2 2.20) goes for the Mets. Nathan Eovaldi (2-1 2.58) goes for the Fish.
My man crush on Gee continues.....
ReplyDeleteSucks to see TDA struggle again offensively....
And a buddy of mine was wondering if sticking Duda way down in the lineup hurts, because teams will simply pitch around him to face those .200 hitting guys behind him.
