LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets were held to just three hits in a 3-1 loss to the Altoona Curve at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday night.  Altoona starterJoely Rodriguez gave up one run in seven innings and strck out four. On the other side, Hansel Robles held the Curve to three runs in 4.2 innings and struck out five. Darrell Ceciliani knocked in the B-Mets only run in the second inning. It’s Binghamton’s third straight loss to Altoona.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Tyler Pill makes his 13th start of the season and his second against Altoona. The Cal State-Fullerton product is coming off a win on Thursday, June 19 against Richmond. Pill pitched eight scoreless innings in Binghamton’s 6-0 win, but that wasn’t the most amazing part. The righty went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run,  scored twice and knocked in four runs. He has won four of his last five starts and has not lost since May 5th at New Hampshire. The Covina, California native was taken by the Mets in the fourth round of the 2011 draft.

ALTOONA STARTERRHP Adrian Sampson makes his 16th start of the season and his third against Binghamton. The righty has tossed seven innings in each of his last two starts. He allowed four runs and picked up the win in a 5-4 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday, June 22. Sampson is 1-0 against the B-Mets this season. In 13 innings, he’s allowed  four runs on seven hits. The Curve are 1-1 in those starts. Sampson owns the second best ERA in the league and  the third lowest WHIP at 1.06. The Redmond, Washington native was taken by Pittsburgh in the fifth round of the 2012 draft out of Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Washington.

THROWN A CURVE BALL: Thursday’s loss was Binghamton’s third straight to the Curve. In that time, The B-Mets have been outscored 17-11. It also drops the team to 3-3 against Altoona on the year. The only other teams Binghamton does not have a winning record against is Portland at 4-10 and New Britain at 5-5.

X MARKS THE SPOT: B-Mets catcher Xorge Carrillo  single Thursday night marked the third straight game in which he’s tallied a base knock. He’s now tallied a hit in six of his last seven outings. That includes three multi-hit games. Carrillo has a double, two home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored during that stretch.

SPEED BUMP: After averaging nearly seven runs per game in the previous seven contests, the B-Mets have managed a total of three in the in the last two games. The team has just five hits over the last two contests. That comes after they hit double digits in that category in five of six games.

BULLED OVER:  For the third consecutive game, the B-Mets bullpen didn’t allow a run on Thursday. Three relievers held Altoona to just two hits and struck out four in 3.1 innings. In the last 12.2 innings, the Binghamton bullpen has allowed a total of four runs and struck out sixteen batters. The unit has a 3.29 ERA on the season.

DOWN IN ORDER: Binghamton pitchers lead the league with 605 strikeouts on the season and they have a good chance to improve on that against Altoona. The Curve strikeout more than any other team. The B-Mets are averaging more than seven K’s per game in six games against Altoona this season.

CH-CH-CHANGES: After a total of only 22 transactions through the first two months of the season, the B-Mets have tallied 31 in the month of June. That includes 18 in the last eight days.
