Mack - Mets Shit On Wilmer

The Morning Report Will Be at 11am

Something really strange happened last night after the game.

The Mets optioned Wilmer Flores back to Las Vegas and left their 25-man squad with only one shortstop, Ruben Tejada

Oh sure, I think Eric Campbell played two pro games there so, there it is!  And David Wright or Wally Murphy could move on and fill in. Wilmer could back up at their old position... err... no, he can't do that any more.

Screw all those AAA home runs and runs battered in from last season. Just sit his ass on the bench behind the Mendoza-clone and let him pinch hit every once in a while. If that does work then…. send him over to Jay to get his Mapquest directons in Dominican.

No…

 THAT’S NOT IT!!!!

IT’S THE FRIGGIN POD CAST I HAD WITH STEPHEN KEANE YESTERDAY.

We spent at least ten minutes of the sixty allotted talking about this absurb decision

First of all… Wilmer… I’m sorry man. I never was the biggest fan of yours at short but you won me over with sheer determination.

Stephen said they might be listening and we did everything we could do to get your starting job back, but you know how that works in this organization.

And Fred… Jeff… Sandy… Terry…

Do you notice what’s going on over at Madison Square Garden which has been owned by a guy that makes Fred look like the Gingerbread Man?

Even he knows you have to sometimes admit you’re wrong and turn over the control of your team to someone that knows what the fuck they are doing.

You’re not going to recognize the New York Knicks by opening night because Phil Jackson has both the power and the budget.

What does Terry and Sandy have?

And they blame the blog writers and tell fans to go have a beer while they fuck with men’s lives.

THERE BETTER BE MORE TO THIS STORY...

  1. Its time to trade somebody.....Flores is still really young, but he's no longer a minor league baseball player, so u can't (well, I guess they can and are) stick him in aaa ball until other decisions are made. ......
Oh, and Terry Collins, have fun juggling 7 outfielders in the lineup and explaining your daily lineup decisions to the media.

  2. Great picture, Mack. Between you, Tom, and Reese, this site is getting quite Freudian.

Seriously, it sucks, but it'll probably be better for Wilmer's playing. If the way he was treated doesn't crush his spirit. For the love of God, Sandy, put the kid at a position he can play his best and trade him to a team that will use him in the bigs, where he belongs! I'll bet Sandy is changing his mind again and is thinking of him as Murph's replacement if he gets traded. You watch, one of them is going bye-bye.

That picture is priceless!...... sums up sooo much of what the Wilpons/Alderson have done over the past few years.
I imagine an image of Met fans should be inserted on the receiving end.

    Ernest & Steve,

    There you go again.....
Thinking that this ownership/management group looks at things rationally and in a way that makes sense.

  4. Poor Wilmer... should be playing, not Tejada.

Two scenarios - sent down to hit, and will get traded....or they will shortly dump an OF or two and want to get Wilmer back in rhythm by playing everyday. Whatever it is, make it SHORT timewise.

It also impacts Muno and Reynolds - with him back at AAA those 2 lose valuable playing time. Nuts

  5. Good Morning all,

Wilmer SHOULD be playing everyday. However, in fairness, we need to give credit where credit is due.

Ruben Tejada in the past 30 days is slashing .286/.383/.400 which is good for 24 OPS points OVER the league average SS. And he's getting better as the season moves along. Past 14 days .300 AVG. Past week, .429 AVG. He's hot right now AND He's contributing positive value to the team so there is no reason to bench him.

This isn't the Mets brass shitting on Flores.....this is Ruben Tejada saying "fuck you Wilmer, I'm not giving up my spot."

  7. I'm back.

I've got most of tomorrow's Morning Report done without pontificating about this subject again.

I have more to say, but it will be in the Saturday report.

  8. I'm thinking it's the prelude to a Murphy trade but even then Flores won't play. Terry will put his man-crush at 2B to steal bases assuming he can eventually figure out how to get onto first to do that.
