The St. Lucie Mets won for the ninth time in 10 games by holding off the Jupiter Hammerheads 5-4 on Monday at Roger Dean Stadium.

Jupiter put the first two runners on in the bottom of the ninth against T.J. Chism, but the Hammerheads opted not to have Colin Moran bunt. Instead Moran flew out to center. Paul Sewald came in and got Blake Barber to fly out, then Sharif Othman grounded out to Gavin Cecchini at short to end the ballgame, stranding the tying run at second base.

The Mets trailed 3-1 in the sixth. Cam Maron blasted a two-run double to deep center against Matt Milroy to tie the game. Aderlin Rodriguez broke the tie with a single up the middle that scored two more and gave the Mets a 5-3 lead.

The Hammerheads scored an unearned run off of Tim Peterson in their half of the sixth to cut it to 5-4. Peterson recovered by striking out Terrence Dayleg with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Robert Coles pitched a scoreless seventh and recorded two outs in the eighth. Chism came on and got the final out of the eighth by striking out Viosergy Rosa with the tying run at third.

Kevin McGowan earned the victory in his St. Lucie debut. He gave up seven hits and three runs in five innings. All three runs came in the fifth.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the second on a sac fly by Gilbert Gomez.

The 1-0 lead held until the fifth. Christian Yelich, in a rehab start for the Miami Marlins, drove in Noah Perio to tie the game 1-1. Three batters later, Matt Juengel gave the Hammerheads a 3-1 lead with a two-run triple into the right field corner.

Milroy could not hold the lead. In his first Advance A game he gave up four runs in five innings and suffered the loss.

Maron extended his hitting streak to 15 games.

Sewald recorded his second save in as many outings.
