Rivera tied a franchise record with three doubles. Cory Mazzoni made his first Double-A start of the season and got the win in five innings of three run ball. Randy Fontanez shut down the Sea Dogs with three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The win breaks a five-game losing streak to the Sea Dogs. The B-Mets are 5-10 against them in 2014. The B-Mets have collected 15 hits or more in consecutive games for the first time since August 2011.

BINGHAMTON STARTERLHP Angel Cuan makes his seventh start of the season and second against Portland. The southpaw has missed the last 19 games while on the disabled list. Cuan took the loss in his last outing, giving up four runs (three earned) in six innings in a 5-3 Binghamton defeat to the Erie SeaWolves on June 15. The Panamanian native’s first start of the season was against Portland. He was roughed up in four innings, giving up a season-high 12 hits and a season-high eight runs on May 19. The B-Mets lost the game 8-2. Cuan was singed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on September 3, 2007.

PORTLAND STARTERRHP Mike Augliera toes the rubber for the  17th time this season and his second against the B-Mets. The former Binghamton University Bearcat has not won a game since May 18. That includes allowing six runs on 11 hits in four innings in his most recent outing, an 8-0 loss to the Trenton Thunder onThursday, July 10. Augliera was tagged with the hard-luck loss in his only other start at NYSEG Stadium. He went seven innings and allowed just two earned runs in a 5-1 Binghamton win on May 2. The righty was taken by Boston in the fifth round of the 2012 draft.

INTO THE RECORD BOOKS: Binghamton INF T.J. Rivera tied a franchise record with three doubles in Monday night’s win over Portland. The  feat was also accomplished by former B-Met Rhyne Hughes on July 28, 2013 against Trenton. Rivera has seven hits in nine at-bats, including three doubles, a home run, four runs scored and three RBI.

THEY CHANGE YOU: Binghamton batters walked seven times in Monday night’s series opening win over Portland. That feat was done against a Sea Dogs squad that has walked the second fewest batters in the league this season. The B-Mets are third in the league in base-on-balls with 310 on the season. They are averaging nearly six walks-per-game on this home stand.

THE HITS KEEP ON COMING : For the second straight game, the B-Mets tallied at least 15 hits, on Monday. Binghamton has fifty hits through the first five games of this home stand, including three double-digit performances. The team is fourth in the league in hits with 805 on the season.

HOW ‘BOUT ANOTHER: B-Mets INF Dilson Herrera extended his hitting streak to ten games with a single in the first inning of Binghamton’s win on Monday. Herrera is 16-for-47 during the stretch that began on June 27.  It’s the sixth time this season a Binghamton player has tallied a double-digit hit streak. Matt Reynolds was the last one to accomplish the feat with an 11 game streak form May 16 - 24.

TERRIFIC TWOS: Binghamton OF Travis Taijeron smashed two home runs on Monday. It was the first time he had hit two long balls in one game this season and the tenth time by a B-Met. That includes three two-long ball games in the month of July.
