Bradenton 11 - St. Lucie 5

The Bradenton Marauders defeated the St. Lucie Mets 11-5 on Tuesday to end the Mets’ eight-game winning streak.

Chad Kuhl limited the Mets to two hits and two runs in seven innings.

Meanwhile, the Marauders offensive pounded out 15 hits. The bottom three in the Marauders order - Jin-De Jhang, Walker Gourley and Raul Fortunato - combined to go 8 for 11 with five runs scored and five RBIs.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI ground out by Jared King, but the Marauders would score 11 of the next 12 runs in the game.

In the third, Gourley tied the game with an RBI ground out and and Raul Fortunato and Adam Frazier followed with two-out RBI singles to make it 3-1. All three runs in the inning against Michael Fulmer were unearned after Gavin Cecchini committed a throwing error to start the inning.

The Marauders extended their lead to 6-1 in the sixth. Gourley and Frazier again came up with RBI base hits.

The Mets tried to climb back into the game in the seventh. They loaded the bases with one out but only scored one run on Cecchini’s fielders choice.

The Marauders took advantage of a pair of two-out walks and a wild pitch by Julian Hilario in their half of the seventh when Jhang singled to right and plated both runners to make it 8-2.

Bradenton scored three more off of Hilario in the eighth to blow the game open, 11-2.

Eudy Pina and Gilbert Gomez each drove in a run with a base hit with two outs in the ninth to cut into the deficit but the game ended with L.J. Mazzilli flew out to right.

Fulmer took the loss for the Mets. He gave up 10 hits and six runs, three earned, in six innings. - team press release
