It took just 2 hours and 15 minutes for Tom Seaver and the Mets to dispose of Cincinnati 3-2. Seaver went the distance in his 15^th win, striking out 8. He helped his own cause with a double and later scored on a bases clearing Tommie Agee two-bagger. 

New York remained 5 behind the 1^st place Cubs. They defeated the Dodgers 3-2 in 11 at Wrigley.
