Sunday in Flushing, Anthony Recker’s 3 run homer in the bottom
of the 1st highlighted a 5 run inning, the Mets take 2 of 3 from the
Rangers with a 8-4 win at Citi Field.
The Mets jumped all over Nick Tepesch for the 5 spot on 3 hits in the 1st. Curtis Granderson walked and then after 2
quick outs scored on an RBI double by Lucas Duda. Duda was then brought home by
an RBI single by Juan Lagares, then Anthony Recker smoked a 3 run homer to
left, his 3rd on the year to make it 5-zip. Robinson Chirinos hit a solo homer (9) in the
4th off Mets starter Zach Wheeler to make it 5-1, for Chirinos, his
2nd homer in 2 games. Kirk Nieuwenhuis
homered in the 6th (3), Daniel Murphy had an RBI double in the 7th
to make it 7-1. In the 8th,
Gonzalez Germen came in and allowed a solo homer to Alex Rios (4) and a two run
homer to Leonys Martin (4) and it was 7-4. The Mets capped their scoring in the
bottom of the 8th with an RBI single by Reuben Tejada. Wheeler picks up his first home win on the
season going 6 1/3 allowing 6 hits, 1 run (earned) he walked 2 and struck out
4, he’s now 4-8. Tepesch takes the loss
he falls to 3-4. The Mets scattered 8
hits in the win, Tejada led the way going 2 for 3. His batting average is now
up to .240. The Mets are now 19-22 at
home and 39-49 on the season. Monday
night the Braves come to town for a big 4 game set. Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-3 3.72) goes for the Mets, Mike Minor (2-5 4.73) goes for the Mets.
Nice win. 5 relievers, though?
