Reuben Tejada it a two out RBI single in the bottom of the
11th inning, the Mets beat the Braves Monday night 4-3. In the bottom of the second the Mets took a
1-0 advantage when the red hot Travis d’Arnaud hit an RBI double that rolled to
the wall in left-center scoring Eric Campbell from first base. In the 3rd
David Wright connected off Brave starter Mike Minor for a solo homer, his 7th
on the year to make it 2-0. Daisuke Matsuzaka started for the Mets and weaved in an out of trouble but managed to
toss 7 scoreless innings allowing 6 hits walking 2 and striking out 3. In the
top of the 8th the Braves scored three times off the combination of
Vic Black, Josh Edgin and Jenrry Mejia to take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Curtis
Granderson hit a two-out solo homer run, his 13th of the year off
Luis Avilan to tie the game at 3. In the
bottom of the 11th Juan Lagares doubled to center, Lucas Duda was
intentionally walked and after Travis d’Arnaud grounded out to third with
runners on 1st and 3rd Tejada lined the single to center
to win it. Carlos Torres pitched 2
scoreless innings in relief striking out 2 and picks up the win he’s now 4-4.
Anthony Varvaro gets the loss he falls to 3-2. The Mets win their 2nd
straight and take the 1st game of this key series with the Braves.
The Mets stand at 40-49 on the year and 20-22
at Citi Field. Tuesday night it’s game two of the series. Jacob deGrom
(1-5 3.77) goes for the Mets, Julio
Teheran (8-5 2.29) goes for the Braves.

ReplyDeleteThis was as sweet a win as I've seen in some time. This and the Yankee game that ended on Duda's great double play were probably this year's highlights for me.
