Peavey tied a season-high with nine strikeouts in the game. The Vancouver, Washington native struggled in his only other appearance against New Britain. He surrendered four runs on nine hits in 4.2 frames on June 7. Binghamton lost the game 6-4.  The Oregon State product was taken by the Mets in the  sixth round of the 2010 draft.

NEW BRITAIN STARTER: LHP Jason Wheeler is on the mound for the 12th time in 2014 and the second against Binghamton. POWER OUTAGE: Binghamton leads the league with 121 home runs on the year, but hasn’t hit one in their last six games. That’s their longest drought of the season. The team has been held to just two long balls on their current homestand. B-Mets INF/OF Dustin Lawley is second on the team with 20 home runs, but hasn’t hit one since August 6 (15 games).

WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES: Binghamton enters Thursday having already clinched a playoff spot and is two games back of Portland for first place in the Eastern Division. The B-Mets are winners of 11 of their last 15 games, but have their elimination number down to three with five games remaining. The Sea Dogs hold  the tiebreaker between the squads by winning the season series 12-9.

THREE MORE: If Binghamton goes 3-2 over their final five games, they will tie a franchise record for wins at 86. That mark was set last season with the team won the Eastern Division title. The B-Mets are 51-24 since June 10 and are in the postseason in back-to-back years for the first time in franchise history.

WE BE STREAKIN’: B-Mets INF T.J. Rivera and OF Brandon Nimmo are each riding hitting streaks. Rivera’s stands at eight games and is hitting .586 (17-for-29) in that time. That includes six multi-hit performances and three games with three base knocks. Nimmo is riding a season high nine-game hitting streak. He’s batting .324 (12-for-37) during the stretch and has raised his average 14 points.

IT’S NOT GOOD-BYE, IT’S SEE YOU LATER: Binghamton plays its final home game of the regular season on Friday, before returning next week for the postseason. The team is 45-25 at NYSEG Stadium this year, good for the best home mark in the league.
