Bowie 8 - Binghamton 2

The Binghamton Mets gave up seven runs between the seventh and eighth innings and couldn’t solve starter Zach Davies in an 8-2 loss  to the Bowie Baysox, on Sunday night at NYSEG Stadium. Davies tossed 7-1/3 innings, allowed two runs and struck out eight. Binghamton finishes the home stand 4-3.
The scoring didn’t start until the sixth inning. Garabez Rosa tripled off Steven Matz with two outs. Wilfredo Tovar bobbled a ground ball in the next at bat that allowed Michael Ohlman to reach and Rosa to score to give Bowie a 1-0 lead.
That lead was extended in the seventh against Adam Kolarek. He let Glynn Davis reach on a single and walked Niuman Romero with one out. Buck Britton then doubled to score Davis. The next batter, Ronald Bermudez, singled to score both runners and make the score 4-0.
The offense from the Baysox continued in the eighth. Jon Velasquez surrendered a ground rule double to Ohlman with one out. Chris Marrero came up and singled to put two on for Sharlon Schoop. He laced a two-run base knock to ignite the rout. Three batters later, Bermudez and David Adams tallied back-to-back RBI hits to put the B-Mets behind, 8-0.
Binghamton finally got on the board in the eighth against Davies. Darrell Ceciliani singled and came around to score on a Jayce Boyd double. After an out, Xorge Carrillo singled to plate Boyd and chase Davies from the game.
Davies (8-6) retired 14 in a row at one point. Matz (4-3) gave up just an unearned run and struck out seven. Kolarek and Velasquez combined to allow seven runs on eight hits in two frames. Hansel Robles struck out the side in a scoreless ninth.
