LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets used a couple of home runs and strong performance from Greg Peavey to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels in Game 2 of the Eastern League Championship Series on Wednesday at The Diamond. The B-Mets take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Peavey tossed seven innings, allowed just one runs and tied a season-high with nine strikeouts. Xorge Carrillo hit a two-run home run, while Travis Taijeron smacked a three-run bomb. It was the first two home run game for Binghamton since August 22. Randy Fontanezand Cody Satterwhite each managed a scoreless frame out of the bullpen. B-Mets pitching combined for 12 strikeouts in the victory. Binghamton finishes it’s postseason road trip 4-1.

BINGHAMTON STARTERLHP Steven Matz is on the mound for the 14th time this season and the second in the postseason. The southpaw got the ball in Game 3 of the Eastern Division Championship Series at Portland. He tossed five innings, allowed three runs and didn't factor into the decision in a 6-3 Binghamton loss on Friday, September 5. In his only other start against Richmond this season, Matz surrendered two runs in five innings and struck out a season-high ten batters, but was saddled with the loss. The Stony Brook, New York native was taken by the Mets in the second round of the 2009 draft out of Ward Melville Senior High School in East Setauket, New York.

RICHMOND STARTER: LHP Ty Blach makes his 27th start of the year and his second of the postseason. The southpaw got the ball in Game 3 of the Western Division Championship Series against Akron. He pitched a shutout in 6.1 innings and earned the win as Richmond Picked up the victory, 1-0. In three previous starts against Binghamton this season, Blach is -01. He’s allowed just one run in 19 innings and has walked 11 batters. The Denver, Colorado native was taken by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2012 draft out of Creighton

IS TONIGHT THE NIGHT?: With a win on Friday, Binghamton would clinch it’s first Eastern League Championship since 1994. It would be the third title the team has won since coming to Binghamton in 1992. They also came out on top in 1992. It would also be the first postseason sweep for the B-Mets since the divisional round 1994.

A CHANCE AT HISTORY: A win for Binghamton on Friday would set a franchise-record for combined wins between the regular season and the playoffs in a year. The record was set when the 1994 B-Mets won 88 games (82 in the regular season and six in the postseason). The 2014 squad won 83 games in the regular year and have five wins so far in the postseason.

A SQUIRRELY SWEEP: Binghamton and Richmond have matched up in three series this season, with Binghamton sweeping two and Richmond sweeping the other. The B-Mets scored more than eight runs-per-game in the first two sweeps. However, the team managed just 11 in a four-game set to wrap up the regular season.

IT TAKES TWO: Binghamton relievers Hansel Robles and Cody Satterwhite have tossed a combined 9.2 scoreless innings this postseason. They’ve walked just one batter in that time and have struck out 17 batters. Satterwhite has  tallied two saves this postseason.

B-METS IN ELCS: The B-Mets are in the ELCS for the third time in franchise history and the first since 1994. They have never lost a championship series, beating the Canton-Akron Indians in 1992 and the Harrisburg Senators in 1994.
