LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets gave up four home runs and hit into four double plays in a 7-0 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs, on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium The B-Mets loss knots the best-of-five Eastern Division Championship Series at one game apiece. Greg Peavey gave up six runs (two earned) on eight hits in two innings. He allowed five runs in the second inning and was hurt by two errors. The four home runs were the most allowed by Binghamton in a game this season. Justin Haley and Wilfredo Boscan combined to shutout Binghamton on nine strikeouts. Darrell Ceciliani went 2-for-4 with a double in the loss. The team was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: LHP Steven Matz makes his 12^th start of the season and his third against Portland. The southpaw took the hard-luck loss in his last outing. He gave up two runs in five innings and struck out a season-high ten batters in a 2-1 Binghamton loss to Richmond on Friday, August 29. In his two previous outings against the Sea Dogs, Matz is 2-0 and has allowed just five runs in 12.1 innings. He’s walked just two and has struck out nine in those games. The Stony Brook, New York native has held opponents to three earned runs in his last five appearances (30 innings). The 23-year-old was taken by the Mets in the second round of the 2009 draft out of Ward Melville Senior High School in East Setauket, New York.

PORTLAND STARTER: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez is on the hill for the seventh time with the Sea Dogs and his first against Binghamton. The southpaw is coming off a win in his last outing. He allowed just one run in six innings in a 6-2 Portland win over Harrisburg on Sunday, August 31. In 22 games between Bowie and Portland this season, Rodriguez is 6-8 with a 3.60 ERA. He hasn’t surrendered more than one earned run in a start since joining Portland at the trade deadline. Rodriguez was acquired by Boston from the Baltimore organization for reliever Andrew Miller on July 31, 2014.

HARD TIMES AT HADLOCK: Binghamton has not had an easy time at the home of the Sea Dogs this season. The team is just 2-8 in those games. It’s the worst road mark the squad had in the regular season. That includes losing two-out-of three in their most recent trip north in July. The B-Mets offense was held to just over three runs-per-game in that series.

B-METS/SEA DOGS SEASON SERIES: Portland was the only team in the Eastern League to beat Binghamton in their season series. The B-Mets dropped 12 of the 21 meetings. However, the boys from the Southern Tier have one six of the last eight meetings this season, including playoffs.

WHAT A RELIEF: B-Mets reliever Hansel Robles worked 2.1 scoreless innings on Wednesday and struck out four batters. Since transitioning to the bullpen on July 19, Robles has 30 strikeouts in 23.2 innings (13 appearances).

HERE ONE MINUTE, GONE ANOTHER: Binghamton has said good-bye to three players in the last two weeks. First, INF Dilson Herrera had his contract selected by New York (NL) on Friday. Then, C Juan Centeno and LHP Dario Alvarez were added by New York. Centeno had a hit in 12 of his last 14 games with Binghamton, while Herrera was batting .340 with 30 extra-base hits. Alvarez had not allowed a run in five Double-A appearances.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Binghamton knocked into four double plays, on Thursday. It ties the most twin killing hit into by the B-Mets in a game this season. The team hit into the third most double plays in the league in 2014 with 114.
