Tuesday night in Flushing, Jacob deGrom scattered 3 hits
over 8 scoreless innings. The Mets beat the Rockies 2-0. For the first 4 innings Christian Bergman and deGrom where tossing zeroes. In the bottom of the 5th the Mets took a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by Juan Lagares.
In the 6th an RBI double by Curtis Granderson made it 2-0. deGrom was the story going 8 innings allowing
the 3 hits and striking out 9 earning his 8th win, lowering his ERA
to 2.62. In the top of the 9th Jenrry Mejia came in and just didn’t
have it. He loaded the bases with 1
out. Terry Collins brought in Josh Edgin
who struck out Corey Dickerson, then brought in Jeurys Familia to retire Wilin
Rosario and notch his 5th save on the year. deGrom improves to 8-6, Bergman falls to 2-3. Curtis Granderson stayed hot going 2 for 4. The Mets have won two straight and now stand
at 70-75 on the year and are now .500 at home at 35-35. Wednesday night the
Mets go for the sweep of this 3 game set. Rafael Montero (0-3 5.23) goes for the Mets, Tyler Matzek (5-9 4.32) goes for the Rockies.

Matt Harvey had his rookie adjustment year in 2012 and once the bumps were out of the way he was elite and dominated in 2013.
ReplyDeleteBecause deGrom was called up months earlier than Harvey was, Jakes "bumps" period and "elite" period were both this year. In my opinion, he is EVERY bit as elite as Harvey. Take out his 3 early bump games and in all his other games, my guess is his ERA is 2.00. Elite. A #1.
