6-29-14 -

(ORIGINAL ARTICLE - 6-5-12) - The Texas Rangers called on Tuesday but it wasn't enough for Bridge City senior pitcher Jake Lemoine to skip college.
Lemoine's father, Jude Lemoine, said his phone rang shortly before 9 a.m., saying the Rangers offered Jake $277,000 to be a fourth-round draft pick.
Jude Lemoine said that was about half of what they were hoping Jake would get.
"We told them we were not going to sign unless we got third round money or better," Jude Lemoine said. "A college education is No. 1 on our priority list."
