I hear that Cesar Puello went to the team doctor to get bench splinters removed from his butt caused by sitting too much. :( Sucks he is not playing.
ReplyDeleteWell to be fair....the Toros did not play yesterday lol.
ReplyDeleteBut yes....its getting frustrating to watch him get passed over.
There is still a bunch of time left in the Winter League seasons....I would love to see him take himself out of the DWL and spend the next 2 months in the Puerto Rican League or the Mexican Pacific League.
Tough to see Nimmo continuing to struggle in the weak pitching AFL.
ReplyDeleteHad a chance to crack the AAA roster but is now probably going to open 2015 in AA.
Agree on Nimmo. He has to prove he can hit, although he seemsideal attitude-wise. That's why Tyler Pill going 8 for 19 with power in AA, with ZERO Strikeouts, after not hitting in a real game since college, was so darned impressive to me. Nimmo the great hope strikes out like Nieuwenhuis.
ReplyDeleteNimmo has been whiffing like Baez, which is very concerning. I still have high hopes for a Hunter Pence comp, but he needs to progress at his developmental pace, not based on ML needs. He is almost certain to start in AA and that is really where he should be based on age and performance to date. I still like the idea of going whole hog on Jason Heyward next year or Upton, so the Mets can have both Nimmo and Conforto spend sufficient time in the minors.

I do not know who decides who goes to play off season and who does not. If I were Travis Taijeron or Dustin Lawley, I'd have volunteered to play.
ReplyDeleteThose are two power bats that need all the ABs they can get to fix the strikeout holes in their bats.
Nimmo is tired.
ReplyDeleteSend him home for 3 weeks then on to the Lucie camp
You may be onto something there Mack, it has been a long season for him and he had a pretty stringent off season last year, so probably is running on fumes. it may be best to send him home for the whole off season and allow his body to recover. Even though he is young, he has demanded more out of his body in the past 12 months than he ever has by a long shot. Rest the body, decompress the brain and come back strong next April. I would want him at peak in April and not disrupt it by pushing harder
ReplyDeleteJoe
Hearing you on Nimmo fatigue, Mack. Understandable.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of fatigue is one thing that so impressed me with Dilson. He played well in a full season in 2013, played about 45 games in Colombia last off season, then banged thru a full season in 2014. Never lost steam. That is a big reason why I think Dilson is thought of highly by Mets.
Hey Chris, Puello was born in Dominican Republic, so he gets to (not) play close to home.
ReplyDeleteIf I were him and he could play somewhere good everyday, I'd switch as you suggest, home or not.
