TRADE - LHP Jerry Blevins

Mets Acquire Jerry Blevins

The Mets announced that they’ve acquired left-hander Jerry Blevins from the Nationals in exchange for outfielder Matt den Dekker

  1. Meh. den Dekker had no role on the team now or in the future. They need some middle relievers from the left side. It doesn't suck but likely doesn't help much -- similar to the earlier trade of Mazzoni for Alex Torres.

Wake me when they trade Dillon Gee for Brian Matusz.

  2. Could have gotten more for him, though. CF's of his quality are scarce. I'll bet he's got Denard Span's job by next year's Opening Day.

  3. Could not have gotten more for him IMO. Sandy wouldn't just give players away and MDD brought back what we needed.

He's a glove glove caliber CF and Lagaras will still run circles around him. He was surplus in a system that's grown to the point where players like him aren't going to get many chances to succeed.

He's better off now and so are the Mets.

  4. It's just me, but the Mets get two lefties with MAJOR league success under their belt for a two minor leaguers, one of which was like 8th on the rotation chart.

    These were good deals

  5. These are the deals you make to get to winning. I'm really happy to see management taking a strong position on the team. The actually added some salary today--players the need.

In a very quiet way, this is one of the more significant days the Mets have had in the past 4 years---whether the palyers work out or not, they showed some committment to the win/loss.

  6. Still say he'll be the Nats CF on Opening Day next year, barring a trade for a ML CF. I was looking at their prospects, and their AAA CF isn't even close to DD's ability.

Good-bye, Matt. If you hadn't broken your wrist, you probably would have been starting for us in CF instead of Lagares.

  7. Hope Puello clears waivers and gets to play in dD's place at Vegas. if so, will he or Nimmo be the CFer there?

  8. I believe Puello becomes a FA---I wouldn;t expect him to stay a Met

  9. I agree with Mack and ERaff - sorry to see MDD go, but this was a significant day for the Mets in a good way.
