LAST GAME: Three B-Mets combined to throw a two-hit shutout in 1-0 victory on Friday night over the Akron RubberDucks at Canal Park. Rainy Lara went 6.2 innings to get his first win of the year, while Jon Velasquez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his second save since 2010. The six combined hits were all singles and no RubberDuck reached second base. The lone run was scored on a Jared King ground out in the sixth inning, his first career RBI at the Double-A level.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa makes his 2015 debut after finishing the 2014 season with Binghamton. The righty went 3-2 with a 4.23 ERA in 11 starts with the B-Mets after beginning the year with St. Lucie (High-A). The 21 year-old went a combined 11-4 with a 4.07 ERA in 25 starts between both levels. He earned the win to clinch the EDCS inhis lone postseason start, 9/7 @ Portland (EDCS, G5). He’s allowed one earned run in his last 18 innings pitched on the road.

AKRON STARTER: LHP Shawn Morimando returns to Akron after finishing 2014 with the Indians’ Double-A affiliate. In 10 starts with the RubberDucks, the lefty went 2-6 with a 3.83 ERA. The 22 year-old began the season with the Carolina Mudcats (High-A), going 10-9 with a 3.31 ERA in 28 starts overall last season. The righty is 0-5 in his last seven starts at Canal Park. Morimando will be making his first career start against the B-Mets.

LARA LIGHTS OUT: Rainy Lara was involved in a Mets shutout Friday night for the first time since April 11, 2014 when Binghamton beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7-0. It was the first time in four starts that Lara did not allow a run (7.2 innings vs. Harrisburg, 8/9/14).

IT ONLY TAKES ONE: Friday night was the B-Mets first 1-0 victory since beating the Portland Seadogs on July 9, 2014, 62 games ago. Binghamton had lost twice by a 1-0 score during that span.

TWO-HITTER: Friday night was Binghamton’s first two-hit shutout since May 26, 2014, when they beat the New Britain Rock Cats 5-0 at NYSEG Stadium. Darin Gorski pitched the complete game shutout. The last combined two-hitter came in the second game of a doubleheader against the Trenton Thunder on July 28, 2013. Noah Syndergaard completed the first six innings while Ryan Fraser pitched the seventh to do the honors. The Mets now have 23 two-hit shutouts in their 24 year history.

FOOL ME ONCE: The B-Mets win Friday night helped them avoid their first 0-2 start to a season since 2012. 

SHUTOUT STREAK: Friday’s 1-0 win snapped the B-Mets four-game losing streak in shutouts. Binghamton is now 13-9 in shutouts dating back to the beginning of the 2014 season.

A TRADITION UNLIKE ANY OTHER: The B-Mets-RubberDucks season series has featured a shutout in each of the past five seasons. The B-Mets beaten Akron via shutout in each of the last three years.

THERE IS ALWAYS A FIRST: Jared King’s first RBI at the Double-A level proved to be the game-deciding run Friday night. The Ohio native’s groundout in the sixth plated Xorge Carrillo with the game’s only run.

BIRTHDAY BOY(S): Dustin Lawley celebrates his 26^th birthday today. In his career, he has gone 2-for-11 with two doubles and two RBI in three pro games on his birthday. Xorge Carrillo and Eudy Pina each celebrate their birthday tomorrow.
