New Hampshire 10 - Binghamton 5

The Binghamton Mets surrendered 14 hits, including three home runs, in a 10-5 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The B-Mets racked up five extra-base hits, including four doubles and a home run from Jared King, but suffered their second straight defeat.

The Fisher Cats jumped on Gabriel Ynoa in the first, striking for two runs on four hits. Dwight Smith Jr. pelted the video board beyond the right-center field wall with a solo blast, his second home run of the season. Two batters later, Jake Fox ripped an RBI double off the left-field wall. Ryan Schimpf kicked the lead to three with an RBI single in the third.

Trailing 3-0, the B-Mets clawed back with three doubles in the fourth against John Anderson. Brandon Nimmo started the inning with a two-bagger down the third-base line and scored Binghamton’s first run when Aderlin Rodriguez lined another into the right-field alley. Josh Rodriguez cut the deficit to one by banging a double of his own off the center field wall.
New Hampshire answered back against Ynoa after Binghamton cut into their lead. Smith laced a two-run single into center in the fourth and Ryan Schimpf launched a solo home run in the fifth, Ynoa’s final inning.

Binghamton kept pace with New Hampshire, countering the Fisher Cats run-for-run through the seventh. The B-Mets plated a run in the sixth on a fielding error by Jon Berti before King belted a two-run homer in the seventh, trimming New Hampshire’s lead to three.

Down 8-5, the B-Mets mustered one last threat in the eighth, putting two aboard with one out. Reliever Cory Burns nullified the rally by inducing Gilbert Gomez to bounce into an inning-ending double play.

The Fisher Cats tacked on against the B-Mets bullpen, hanging two runs on Beck Wheeler in the sixth and two more runs on Adam Kolarek in the eighth.

Ynoa (1-1) surrendered six runs on ten hits, both season-highs, over 4-2/3 innings in the loss. Anderson (1-0) struck out five while allowing two runs on five hits over five innings to pick up his first win since July 2014.

The B-Mets (8-7) continue their four-game series against the Fisher Cats on Saturday night at 5:35 PM. RHP Luis Cessa makes his third start of the year against LHP Matt Boyd.
