In a game that saw two Sand Gnats homer, it was a three-run fourth inning that made the difference as the Power take game four, 6-3, and the opening series of the season.
The Sand Gnats sent 2014 fifth-rounder RHP Josh Prevost (0-1, 6.00) to the hill on Sunday. Prevost was saddled with the loss after giving up a bases clearing double to Trace Tam Sing in the fourth. The New Jersey native settled in after the three-run fourth, finishing with 6.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB, and 4 SO.
With the Power up 4-0, John Mora cut the lead in half with a two-run shot to right field, which scored Jonathan Johnson. Mora has reached base in all four games this season.
West Virginia starter RHP Austin Coley (1-0, 3.60) got the win after pitching five full allowing just the two-run shot to Mora. Power reliever Sam Street came into the game in the sixth inning and threw three shutout innings of work with four strikeouts.
In the ninth, the Power led 6-2 and it was Vicente Lupo that answered the bell with a solo home run to left, which was Lupo's first hit of the young 2015 season. - team press release
