With the ball sitting at the back stop, Diaz began to head home and scored when Lara overthrew Dustin Lawley, who was covering the plate.

Akron added on to their lead one batter later when Destin Hood launched his second home run of the season to center field.

Akron was back at it in the eighth inning, this time against reliever Julian Hilario. The RubberDucks stroked five hits in the frame, getting their fifth run on an Erik Gonzalez single to left field. After an out on the basepaths, Destin Hood hit his second home run of the game.
Trailing 6-0 in the ninth, Dustin Lawley walked with one out. After a Xorge Carrillo double, Jairo Perez grounded out to second to bring in the lone B-Met run.
