The Scoop: Matz might not get the publicity of recently-promoted Vegas teammate Noah Syndergaard, but he is no less regarded than the big righthander within Mets circles. Matz fashions a mid-90s fastball, an improving curve and a change that scouts call plus. He has struck out a Pacific Coast League-leading 45 in 42 innings this season. The Mets don’t need him right now, but when they do, he’ll just add to a deep rotation.
